WireReady is compatible
with AP's WebFeeds Agent

Transitioning your capture software
Anyone who captures the Associated Press satellite fed wire service will likely be transitioned by AP to an Internet feed replacement system as the satellite delivery portion of the AP is phased out over the coming months. Each affiliate will receive information about the Web Feeds Agent and Manager software. The Manager software gives you a new ability to set your own news capture preferences and the Web Feeds Agent will automatically listen and capture the same ANPA formatted AP stories to your computer's hard-drive. This is the same feed that is going out over satellite and it looks the same.

All WireReady customers running our Windows-based software and that have a support plan can migrate to this system with us FREE of charge. Just call us Monday through Friday 9a to 6p (ET) and we'll help you transition. If you don't have a service plan, we have a special conversion incident fee of $150 to configure your EXISTING Windows software. You may also renew a support plan to get the added benefits of our latest software and a free year of support. Users of our old DOS-based software also have options. You can run the webfeeds software on a Windows computer and run a cable from it to the old DOS machine (see method 2 below) or you can upgrade to our Windows-based software for as little as $495 and run it on the same computer as the AP WebFeeds agent.

There are two ways to use AP's WebFeeds Agent with WireReady:

Method 1
AP's WebFeeds Agent can automatically save every received story as a text file in a temporary folder. Your WireReady Wincap software supports a quick and easy change to the INI file to tell it to look to this temporary folder and it will ingest any file it sees there and put it in your WIRES screen, just as if it came in on the old COM port. That's it. No more dish to worry about getting filled up with snow and ice in the winter or dealing with sun fade in the summer.

Method 2
The second way to maintain communication is to configure WebFeeds Agent software to automatically send captured material out a 2nd serial port on your computer. This mimics the exact communication protocol used by the satellite receiver. Just run a null modem serial cable between that port and your current COM port used with AP and you don't have to change anything in the WireReady software at all. The first method is actually quicker and requires no cable or extra com port. However, if you prefer the second method, we will help you set that up and we can also supply a null modem serial cable and USB serial port add-on kit for $49 (includes 2-day priority mail shipping).
