GPIs & Interfaces

WireReady® software products can communicate with other devices, consoles, and switchers through a variety of means including GPI, RS-232, RS-422, and TCP/IP. For stations who want a GPI that provides latched or pulse relay logic, HI/LO voltage inputs and outputs, including dry or wet closure detection and open collector output, we support the devices below and up to 4 devices may be connected to the same computer at a given time allowing ample room for expansion. Moreover, in addition to being able to detect logic states and closures from other device with the GPIs below, WireReady software can also be programmed by the user with "custom" serial strings that are treated as virtual GPI inputs, so if you already have a device that can send out serial commands/strings, then you can program our software to communicate without having to buy a GPI from the list below.

Broadcast Tools SRC-2

The tiny TOOLS SRC-2 interfaces two optically isolated inputs and two SPST relays to a RS-232 or USB port. The SRC-2 can notify a user's PC software program that any of two optically isolated inputs have been opened or closed and allows your software to control two SPST, 1-amp relays. Communication with the SRC-2 is accomplished via short "burst" type ASCII commands from the users PC. Also, two units may be operated in a standalone mode (master/slave mode) to form a "Relay extension cord," with two channels of control in each direction. The unit communicates using RS-232 at baud rates up to 9600. The SRC-2 is powered by a surge protected internal power supply. The SRC-2 may be rack mounted on the optional RA-1 mounting shelf. Ethernet capabilities are available with the SRC-2X.

Broadcast Tools SRC-16

The Broadcast Tools SRC-16 is a computer interface to the real world. Connection through an RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 serial port with baud rates up to 38400 the SRC-16 can notify your PC software program that any of 16 optically isolated inputs has been opened or closed and allows your software to control sixteen SPDT, 1-amp relays. The user is supplied with three pre-programmed format selections. The "PIP" GPI format is used on most of our audio switchers, the AT-1616 format is used on one of our most popular serial GPIO interfaces and the short ASCII format, which is used by a number of radio automation suppliers. Also, two units can be operated in a standalone mode (master/slave mode) to form a "Relay extension cord," with sixteen channels of control in each direction. The SRC-16 may be expanded to 64 inputs x 64 relays. Optional external Ethernet and USB capabilities may be added. The SRC-16 is supplied with LED indicators to display input and relay status. Three front panel LED's display power, serial transmit and receive data. Plug-in euroblock screw terminals are provided for ease of wire installation/removal. The half-rack chassis allows two units to be rack mounted on the optional RA-1 rack shelf.

Broadcast Tools SRC-32

The Broadcast Tools SRC-32 is a computer interface to the real world. Connection through an RS-232 or RS-422 serial port, the SRC-32 can notify your PC software program that any of 32-optically isolated inputs have been opened or closed and allows your software to control sixteen SPDT, 1-amp relays and an additional sixteen open collector outputs. Communication with the SRC-32 can be accomplished via short burst type ASCII or binary commands from your PC (computer mode). Also, two units can be operated in a standalone mode (master/slave mode) to form a "Relay extension cord," with 32-channels of control in each direction. The unit can communicate at data rates up to 38400. The SRC-32 may be expanded to 128 inputs x 128 outputs. Optional external Ethernet capabilities may be added with the ESS-1.

Features:

  • 32 optically isolated inputs. 5 to 24 vdc wet, dry or 5-volt TTL/CMOS logic compatible inputs.
  • Sixteen open collector outputs.
  • Sixteen SPDT, 1-amp relays.
  • Logic functions via microprocessor and non-volatile memory.
  • Multi-drop RS-232 or RS-422 serial port.
  • Front panel input and output LCD status display.
  • A push button switch allows LCD display selection of either inputs or outputs.
  • Three front panel LED's display power, input or output.
  • Plug-in euroblock screw terminals for I/O connections.
  • 1-RU chassis along with the LCD contrast control.
  • Expandable to 128 inputs x 128 outputs.

Broadcast Tools GPI-24

The GPI-24 interfaces 24 optically isolated inputs to a users PC's RS-232 or USB port. Each input can be configured to generate user programmable ASCII, HEX or control character strings on each rising and/or falling input transition. Each string can be up to 32 characters long. Programming is performed using HyperTerminal or your favorite com program. The user has three additional pre-programmed selections. The "PIP" GPI format is used on most of our audio switchers and most satellite receivers, the AT-1616 format used on one of our most popular serial GPIO interfaces and the short ASCII format, which is used by a number of Radio automation suppliers. Additional features include; Plug-in euroblock screw terminals; optional StarGuide II/III relay card adapter; LED indicators for power and input activity. The GPI-24 is supplied with a Smart USB-RS-232 adapter cable, DB-9 straight-through cable and 9 vac wall transformer. The GPI-24 is powered by a surge protected internal power supply. Two GPI-24's may be rack mounted via the optional 1-RU, RM-3 mounting shelf or up to 12 units on the RA-12 rack panel. DIN rail clips are available as an option for mounting on a DIN rail.
