Electronic Newsroom, EAS Alerts & Wire Service Capture

Multi-User Systems Considerations:

All basic networking topologies supported. TCP/IP - Netbui - Novell IPX etc. We recommend TCP/IP Mapped drive letter or UNC // share paths supported. Servers recommended but not required. For our recommendations on servers - networking and capture stations...

Servers:
A server is primarily a shared hard-drive (storage medium) with this application. For less than 10 logins, 2000 Workstation or XP Pro work nicely with a shared folder. Network appliances (snap drives) also work fine. For larger systems, Win2000/2003, Novell, or Linux based file servers recommended.

Networking:
10mbit, 100mbit and 1000mbit all supported. (10 is fine, 100 is great) 1000 is only applicable/even a consideration for the server on a large network.

Capture Stations:
On multi-user systems, customers generally find that dedicating a computer to capture the wire services, audio and other data services or act as the gateway to the web site is preferred. These are low demand client programs and even older machines do fine. By not having users touch this computer, reliability is enhanced.

Also automated reboot systems are easily added to reboot the computer if network or internet connectivity is lost or one of the capture applets stops responding. In large facilities that have a large number of text and audio services being captured, sometimes two capture stations are recommended.
