Add-on considerations for existing WireReady customers

WebReady is easily added to an existing WireReady configuration - it can run as a background application in the system tray if you are a small or single user system. Or it can be added to your capture station or production computer if you have a larger WireReady system.

Single User with NewsReady:
If you already have our windows newsroom system installed on a computer (NewsReady), WebReady will run from the same computer as a background app (system tray) so long as the computer is Win2000, XP or later.

Multi User with NewsReady:
If you already have our windows newsroom system installed on a LAN (NewsReady), WebReady will run from the same computer as a background app (system tray) on your CAPTURE computer, so long as the computer is Win2000, XP or later. The CAPTURE computer is typically the computer you already have setup to capture newswires like AP, ABC or NOAA weather, or it's the one being used to autorecord audio programs. You can dedicate a workstation just for WebReady if you like, but it is not required. If you do not provide access to the internet from one or more of your user workstations, this is not a problem, since only the computer that has the WebReady gateway software installed needs an IP connection to wherever your web server resides.

Single or Multi User with ControlReady:
With ControlReady it is advisable to put WebReady on one of your production computers, or dedicate it on a separate computer connected to your LAN. Most facilities do not want their on-air computer to have direct access to the internet, and for those stations, WebReady can be put on one computer on the LAN that does. Any other computers that feed audio programs or other material to WebReady do so on the internal LAN and WebReady than can reach your web server from the computer running WebReady. In high secure applications, the WebReady computer can have two LAN cards- one for the connection for WebReady to each your web server (filtered, and IP limited to only allow WebReady packets to go to and from your web server), where as the other LAN card is restricted to the local subnet that the other computers on your LAN communicate through. If you do not have your computers separated from the internet, then these concerns are not relevant.
