Broadcast Tools 12x4 Switcher Summary We recommend that you set up the 12x4 switcher in Mix Mode. Refer to the Broadcast Tools manual for the dip switch settings for this. If the switcher has been set up in Mix Mode, unless the end overlap command is issued, no channels are turned off when a new channel is turned on. The Broadcast Tools manual uses the term "Burst Mode" for the commands that the ControlReady automation will use. Automation commands: The Comtalk commands to use are in the following format (no spaces): *0 [input(01 through 12)] E [output] [tt(01 through 99)] example: *004E210 first 0 is unit id 04 says send input 4 E means end overlap 2 means change output 2 10 means end overlap after 10 tenths of a second is Alt-13 In most situations, you will not want audio overlapping. We recommend you normally use 01 as the end overlap length, so there really is no overlap. If overlap for an undetermined period is desired, you just have to issue the command in the format *0012*0042 which would overlap inputs 2 and 4 through output 2 (first 0 is unit ID; 01 is input 1; 2 is output 2; is Alt-13; ). Then, when the overlap is to end, you will switch to the channel that remains on, and end overlap after 01 tenths of a second. For example, *002E201 to leave input 2 on. If overlap for a known period is desired, make the overlap time, tt, be that length, maximum 9.9 seconds. For example, *0042*002E270 to overlap inputs 2 and 4 for 7 seconds, then leave input 2 on. ) The last channel switched to is the one that will remain on when overlap ends.
