HOT-KEYS SAVE KEYSTROKES. There are two types of Hot-keys: 1) A combination of 2 keys (one of which is the ALT key) pressed at one time which bypasses menus. For example, while in the CART DECK PRODUCTION SCREEN, simply press Alt-L to get to Library Maintenance. The other option is to press F10, Arrow down and press ENTER. By using the hot-key you press fewer keys. To execute this hot-key, simply press the "L" key while holding down the "Alt" key. 2) One key pressed which bypasses highlighting an option and pressing ENTER within a menu. For example, while in the load cart menu, simply press "L" to load a cart from the Library. See picture below. The other option is to press arrow down 3 times and press ENTER. By using the hot-key only 1 keystroke was used rather than 4. The purpose of a hot-key is to save keystrokes. All options that can be accessed using hot-keys will have the hot-key listed on the selection menu. They are: 1) PLAYING CARTS FROM THE LIVE ASSIST SCREEN. 2) PLAYING CARTS FROM THE NOTEPAD**. 3) PLAYING FROM THE AUTOMATION DECKS***. Depending on your live format, one of these options will best meet your needs. Take a look at these three options, as they may all be of use to you. Perhaps you will use the LIVE ASSIST SCREEN for one live show, the NOTEPAD for another, and the AUTOMATION DECKS for a third. LIVE ON-AIR PLAY FROM THE LIVE ASSIST SCREEN The LIVE ASSIST SCREEN is a simple, user-friendly, and quick way to load carts to play in succession. In seconds, carts can be loaded and set to play in any order that you choose. Up to 4 decks can be loaded and set to play at any one time. With four decks you always have a deck loaded and ready to play a fresh cart. LIVE ON-AIR PLAY FROM THE NOTEPAD The Notepad can be used to play carts for both NEWSCASTS and LIVE ASSIST. NEWSCASTS: You can write your newscast in the Notepad and then load ALL of your ACTUALITIES (carts) that will be played during the newscast. You can load up to 1000 carts into the Notepad, and arrange them to play in any order that you choose. LIVE ON-AIR PLAY FROM THE AUTOMATION DECKS The Automation Decks are also a good tool to use for Live On-Air Play. You can set up Automation Programs to play certain spots, sets of spots, or Rotations. Using the Automation Decks to play your carts allows a lot of creativity and flexibility of your Live On-Air Play.
