CartReady / ControlReady SCC-8 Satellite Channel Controller Installation Procedures The SCC8 is an 8-channel satellite channel controller. Using the Comtalk command in your playlists, automatic switching between satellite channels can be done. Although the SCC-8 enables you to select one of eight active ports (A-1, A-2, B-1, etc) ControlReady rarely needs to use ports other than A-1 and B-1. These are the factory defaults for active ports. Port A-1 can be used for on-air channels, and B-1 can be used for channels that are being recorded. One SCC8 is required for EACH DAT or SEDAT card you wish to control automatically with ControlReady. We've included the manufacturer's operating instructions for the controller. See the Broadcast Tools SCC-8 Installation Sheet. Basic Connection Instructions 1) Connect SCC8 to back of receiver/DAT/SEDAT card. 2) Connect RJ-DB9 converter cable to back of SCC8. Extend 9 pin connection with 24-28 gauge RS232/shielded cable if a run up to 100 feet needs to be made between sat receiver and COM port. Connect to any available com port on back of your computer. We make custom cables of any length if you prefer to have us make any long runs for you. Controlling the SCC-8 The SCC8 is controlled completely within ControlReady using the "COMTALK" command. Comtalk commands always use baud rate 2400, parity none, data bits 8, and stop bits 1. You will also need to enter the port address of the com port you are using: 3f8 for com1, 2f8 for com2. The string is the burst mode command, as listed in the SCC-8 Installation Sheet. The carriage return used in the burst mode command is entered by holding down the Alt key, and entering 13.
