MODEL: IDR200 RATING: 120 VAC, 60Hz, 1 A COLOR: Baige PHYSICAL INFORMATION On the front of the receiver is a small Liquid Crystal Display. To the right of the LCD Display are 4 buttons: CANCEL, SELECT, <, and >, which are used for configuring the receiver. Looking at the back of the Mainstream Receiver there is a 25pin Female port that's labelled PARALLEL. It has a 9pin Female port marked SERIAL. Also, there is a POWER plug where the cable is attached and an ANTENNA plug for signal input. The typical display on the Mainstream Box might look like the following: (C)1992 Mainstream 0000 03:30 S/N:0000000000 The 03:30 is a clock. The Zero's would be be replaced with the serial number of the box. This same serial number is also on the bottom of the Mainstream Box. INPUT DEVICES FM SATELLITE OUTPUT DEVICES SERIAL PAD ONLY PRINTER and NODE SERIAL NODE ONLY PARALLEL PRINTER ONLY CABLING INFORMATION FROM MAINSTREAM IDR BOX TO COMPUTER You will need a serial cable that plugs into the 9pin Female connector on the back of the Mainstream IDR Receiver and the other end of this cable will plug into the computers Serial Port. If you need to make the cable, pinouts are as follows: Mainstream 9pin Computer 9pin Receive Data- Pin 2 --> ---> ---> Pin 2 - Receive Data Ground Signal- Pin 5 --> ---> ---> Pin 5 - Ground Signal Mainstream 9pin Computer 25pin Receive Data- Pin 2 --> ---> ---> Pin 3 - Receive Data Ground Signal- Pin 5 --> ---> ---> Pin 7 - Ground Signal CHANGING AND VIEWING MAINSTREAM IDR RECEIVER CONFIGURATIONS If your Mainstream IDR Receiver was previously setup for a parallel printer, than it will definately need to be changed. This receiver WILL NOT support both Parallel and SERIAL PAD DEVICE outputs. In order for the receiver to send the correct type of data to WireReady it must be setup as follows: SERIAL PAD DEVICE, Serial 1, 9600 /8/None/1 /No Flow. If you are not sure how your Mainstream IDR Receiver is setup than you should go to the VIEWING SETUP section. 1.) VIEWING SETUP From the CopyRight Display press SELECT, and it will display: CHOOSE OPERATION MESSAGES -> Press > two times. It will display: CHOOSE OPERATION <- VIEW SETUP -> Press SELECT. It may display: SERIAL PAD DEVICE, PRINTER & NODE, SERIAL NODE ONLY, OR PARALLEL. If it displays SERIAL PAD DEVICE than press SELECT and then it will display the Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits, Stop Bits, and the Flow Control. Make sure that WireReady matches these settings. If it displayed something else, than you need to go to CONFIGURING MAINSTREAM IDR RECEIVER. 2.) CONFIGURING MAINSTREAM IDR RECEIVER In order for WireReady to receive data properly this receiver must be setup as follows: SERIAL PAD DEVICE, Serial 1, 9600 /8/None/1 /No Flow From the CopyRight Display press SELECT, and it will display: CHOOSE OPERATION MESSAGES -> Keep pressing the > until it shows: CHOOSE OPERATION <- SPECIFY SETUP -> Press SELECT. Next it will display either INPUT DEVICE or OUTPUT DEVICE. If it displays INPUT DEVICE than press > until it shows OUTPUT DEVICE. Once it displays OUTPUT DEVICE press SELECT. There is several choices for an output device. Remember that you want SERIAL PAD DEVICE on SERIAL 1. Once SERIAL PAD DEVICE is selected than press SELECT over. This should bring you to where the Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits, Stop Bits, and the Flow Control are setup. Press SELECT on Baud Rate. Use your left and right arrows to choose the specific Baud Rate. Then press SELECT to continue. Continue going through until Baud Rate, Parity, Data Bits, Stop Bits, and the Flow Control are setup. If your selections are not the same, than you may need to call Mainstream Data for a download. The person to contact is CHERYL at 1-800-473-3332. Tell her you need a download for: SERIAL PAD DEVICE, 9600 Baud, No parity, 8 Data Bits, 1 Stop Bit, and NO FLOW CONTROL. Keep pressing CANCEL to return to the first Copyright screen. 3.) TESTING SERIAL PAD DEVICE Before performing this test call WireReady; and we will walk you to the Diagnostics section of our program and put you in a mode to view this test coming across the screen. From the CopyRight Display press SELECT, and it will show the following: CHOOSE OPERATION MESSAGE -> Press > until you see the following: CHOOSE OPERATION <-DIAGNOSTICS-> Press SELECT. It will show: CHOOSE OPERATION ALIGN ANTENNA -> Press > until you see Diagnostics Test SERIAL1 Press SELECT. It will display: SERIAL1 Output Test in Progress This is a way for you to check and see if the connections from the Mainstream Box to the computer's serial port are all hooked up properly. If everything is all set, the WireReady WIRE SAMPLE screen will display a character test pattern. When you are done, keep pressing CANCEL to return to the first Copyright screen.
